Ordering Resources

A number of ways may be used to order resources in the languages you require. Lists of books in stock are available, although selection is limited (see Languages and Special Offers). The objective of Multilingual Library Books is to provide the most up-to-date publications, so shelf stock is at a minimum. The development of a specific profile to meet the needs of your library is the most cost effective and efficient acquisitions process. A bulk or Open Order for materials in a particular language is the most flexible way to acquire resources. Nominating a particular budget for a language enables us to provide the most recent publications at the best price. Single or multiple copies of titles can be acquired.

Profile Development

  • Select the language/s you require
  • Determine your budget for each language
  • Contact us for the average prices of books in particular languages
  • Advise us of your preferences, for example:
    • Adult Fiction: 70%
      • A mix of general, romance, thriller
      • No westerns
    • Adult Non-fiction: 10%
      • Cookery, health care, biographies, handicrafts, childcare
      • No politics
    • Junior: 20%
      • Picture books
      • Harry Potter
    • Publications published within the last three years only (note that some countries may only publish a very small number of popular books each year)

A profile is developed specific to your library’s requirements. Resources are acquired from the country of publication to the value you specify and supplied at a frequency of your choosing.

The selection of resources is made personally.  With over 30 years' experience and understanding of the type of materials public library users read you can be assured of receiving only quality public library resources.

Selections may be made from the range of resources we have in stock. However, these are of  limited availability due to the need to keep resources current in the wide range of languages that are offered.

Delivery

Within Australia, books are despatched to libraries by a secure, fast courier service. Overseas library shipments may be sent by air or sea depending upon the library's preference. Reputable freight companies are used, such as DHL, TNT, UPS and FedEx. Air-freighted books would arrive at libraries within five days of despatch, while sea-freighted books have approximately an eight week delivery time.

No handling fees are charged. Freight charges are at cost, with no standard fee or minimum fee. Customs clearance and charges are the responsibility of the importing library, although TNT include customs clearance within the freight charge when using the door-to-door service. Typical overseas freight costs are AUD$2-$3 per item and delivery by air takes approximately 7 days.

The weight of parcels is in accordance with workplace health and safety practices.
